Dr. James Ritter

Dr. James Ritter grew up in Texas, met his wife Julie in Austin, and started his family in 2000. Since then, they’ve lived in Southern California and Tennessee, relocating to North Dakota in 2025. When not working, he loves to spend time with his family doing all sorts of fun activities that his better half recommends! He pretends to be a golfer, likes getting on the river in a kayak, and enjoys hiking to places where a hammock can be used.

His best accomplishments in life are his marriage and his children. He’s been with Julie since 1998, and she completes his world. They have two sons who have launched into adulthood. They’re awesome dudes! He and his wife became grandparents in 2025, and they’re trying to embrace the reality that comes along with it. (Dr. Ritter still feels young despite the growing evidence to the contrary.)

Second to his family, he is proud to have completed his undergraduate studies at California State University in San Marcos and dental school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.

Dr. Ritter wants to help you smile, laugh, and eat. (Sometimes the soul just needs to eat a delicious meal to keep from yelling at people!) Working across Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi, he’s helped thousands of patients improve function and esthetics as they transition into dentures and/or dental implants. As an Associate Fellow with the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), he has completed over 600 hours of post-dental education on dental implants to address almost any type of smile rehabilitation.

Patient comfort is a big deal for Dr. Ritter, so sedation is a large focus. Sadly, many people have high dental anxiety or fear that stops them from getting preventive care or completing more advanced treatments to restore their ability to smile, eat, and enjoy life. With over 100 hours of extended training in oral conscious sedation and IV sedation, he can help make his patients as comfortable as possible.

Dr. Ritter will happily explain all the options you have to reach your dental goals — though the staff may warn you he can become quite chatty when he’s nerding out on dental implants, the science and art of bone regeneration, and his favorite music genres. As a proud member of Gen X, he has the dark and dry sense of humor to represent his generation well. Be fairly warned!
